Baldur's Gate 3 Full Walkthrough - Whispering Depths
This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough for the Whispering Depths, an area accessible from the Blighted Village. Players will learn how to enter the depths either through a well or a hidden cellar
The Whispering Depths can be entered from two locations in the Blighted Village. The first is the well in the center of the village, and the second is the fragile wall in the blacksmith's cellar.
Upon entering the Whispering Depths, you will see a vast network of spiderwebs. It is recommended to use fire attacks to burn the webs, which will cause enemies standing on them to fall and take damage.
Follow the path to the right. You will encounter two Ettercaps. After defeating them, you can find a skeleton with some loot.
Continue forward and you will see the Phase Spider Matriarch. Do not engage her yet. Instead, follow the path to the left.
You will come to a large open area with several Phase Spiders and Ettercaps. It is recommended to use stealth to get a surprise round.
After defeating the enemies, you can explore the area. You will find several corpses with some loot.
Now, it's time to face the Phase Spider Matriarch. This is a tough fight, so make sure your party is well-rested and prepared.
The Matriarch has a lot of health and can teleport around the battlefield. She will also summon smaller spiders to help her.
The key to this fight is to destroy the spider eggs scattered around the area. If you don't, the Matriarch will hatch them, and you will be overwhelmed by smaller spiders.
A good strategy is to use area-of-effect spells like Fireball or Shatter to destroy the eggs and damage the Matriarch at the same time.
You can also try to knock the Matriarch into the chasm in the center of the room. This will kill her instantly, but you will not be able to loot her body.
After defeating the Phase Spider Matriarch, you can loot her body to get the [Poisoner's Robe].
More importantly, you can find the [Dark Amethyst] on the ground where the Matriarch was standing. This is the key to opening the Necromancy of Thay.
With the Dark Amethyst in hand, you can now return to the apothecary's cellar and open the book. Be warned, reading the book will have consequences.
After exploring the Whispering Depths, you can leave through the same way you came in.
